Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Western State Hospital. As a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing medical evaluation and care for patients with acute and chronic medical problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care for assigned units
  • Perform and document medical evaluations, including comprehensive medical histories and physicals
  • Develop and document working diagnoses and treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Order and interpret routine diagnostic studies
  • Collaborate with attending psychiatrists/NPs to develop medical treatment plans for patients with complex medical/psychiatric interfaces
  • Refer patients to outside licensed physicians, clinics, or other healthcare providers for specialty management or consultation
Requirements
  • Completion of approved nurse practitioner training course and current certification
  • Current, unrestricted RN and NP licenses in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Knowledge of and experience with Primary Care medicine at the nurse practitioner level

  • Bilingual
