Job Summary:

The Leadership Annual Gift Officer will play a key role in the Advancement team at Colby College, a private liberal arts college. This position is responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors capable of making leadership annual fund gifts towards the Dare Northward campaign.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of Colby donors capable of making leadership annual fund gifts towards the Dare Northward campaign.
  • Solicit leadership annual giving-level donors directly and through collaboration with department colleagues and volunteers.
  • Qualify donors for potential major gift capacity and interests, noting appropriate background on prospects to funnel to major gift portfolios.
  • Participate in the execution of events and programs in support of development activities, engaging key volunteers, and effectively utilizing events and other activities to move solicitations forward.
  • Serve as a core member of the annual giving team, including conducting peer-to-peer outreach outside of assigned portfolio and working collaboratively with colleagues during flagship campaigns throughout the year.
  • Work collaboratively with peers in other fundraising areas to maximize fundraising productivity.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • Previous fundraising experience with demonstrated success in making direct solicitations and an understanding of the moves management process.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional conduct and appropriate handling of confidential information.
  • Availability to work hours outside the normal working day (i.e. nights and weekends).
  • Ability to travel frequently.
  • Valid driver's license required and must meet the College's Fleet Safety Policy requirements.
  • Appreciation of Colby's mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

The position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Ability to move around campus and interact with faculty, staff, students, parents/alumni, and external constituencies regularly is crucial. Travel and work outside of normal business hours are required.
