Job Summary:

The Human Resource Coordinator will lead and direct the functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This position reports to the Corporate Human Resources Manager and Senior Vice President of Administration and Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, performing recruiting activities such as sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and new hire orientation to ensure timely staffing of all vacant positions.
  • Manage all employee timecards and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and follow-up on policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to identify appropriate resolutions for routine and non-routine issues.
  • Be proficient with MS Office and able to learn new systems quickly.
  • Exercise good judgment and confidentiality in all matters.
  • Handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain records of recruiting activities and follow steps in compliance with the company recruiting guidelines.
  • Track employee time and attendance, leave of absences, etc.
  • Manage health and welfare records, including annual and new employee enrollments, changes, and terminations, as well as general file management.
  • Coordinate compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Communicate information regarding insurance plans and options to employees.
  • Provide guidance to managers on compliance issues, employee development, employee relations, discipline, terminations, occupational health and safety, and union grievances and union stewards (if applicable).
  • Assist in investigations of unlawful harassment and discrimination complaints.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, and working knowledge of unionized environments.
  • Review and understand the collective bargaining agreement (if applicable).
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the Human Resources field.
  • Preferred 5 years' experience in Human Resources; 1-3 years' experience in a unionized workplace (if applicable).
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift fifteen pounds at times.
  • Ability to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certifications.
