DV Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm that has been operating for over 15 years. Headquartered in Chicago, we have grown to over 450 employees across North America and Europe.

Since spinning out of a large brokerage firm in 2016, we have rapidly scaled as an independent firm, utilizing our own capital, trading strategies, and risk management methodologies to provide liquidity to global financial markets and hedging opportunities to commodity producers and users.

Our affiliates include two broker dealers, a cryptocurrency market making firm, and an investment adviser. DV Energy is a rapidly growing division that specializes in trading crude oil, refined products, natural gas, and related energy markets across the US, Europe, and Asia.

Our proprietary risk management and trading methodologies, combined with our ability to adapt to changing conditions, have enabled DV Energy to become one of the largest financial participants in the global energy complex.

Responsibilities

As a Soft Commodities Trader, you will be responsible for managing the profit and loss (P&L) of one or multiple products in the softs/agricultural space, with a preference for cocoa, coffee, cotton, sugar, and livestock.

You will build and maintain rigorous fundamental trading models, work with risk to ensure compliance with agreed-upon risk management metrics and sizing, and liaise with the wider softs team to share knowledge, trading ideas, and risk positioning.

You will also be responsible for growing existing trades and P&L while identifying and pursuing new opportunities in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.

Requirements

We are seeking a Soft Commodities Trader with:

  • Softs trading experience
  • A proven track record with strong and consistent historical P&Ls
  • Exceptional knowledge of fundamental concepts within chosen product(s) traded
  • A strong understanding of futures/options risk
  • A self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Able to learn quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and diligent
  • Maintain composure and communicate clearly when under pressure
  • Ability to succeed working as part of a diversified team
  • High-level proficiency in Excel; SQL, Python, statistical modeling, and other programming a plus
