About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team at Preferred Apartment Communities. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our apartment community, providing exceptional customer service to our residents, and working collaboratively with our staff to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in all maintenance requests, preventative maintenance, and amenity area maintenance for the apartment community.
  • Complete maintenance work orders for residents, including service appliances, plumbing, HVAC systems, minor electrical, gate systems, pool operations, and more.
  • Respond to and resolve emergency maintenance requests for after-hours calls, ensuring our residents' needs are met promptly and efficiently.
  • Prepare vacant apartments to make them rent-ready, ensuring they are clean, safe, and ready for new residents.
  • Perform preventative maintenance work to prevent issues and ensure the longevity of our community's systems and equipment.
  • Keep the maintenance shop clean and organized, maintaining adequate stock and inventory of parts for equipment, appliances, and other necessary items.
  • Interact directly with residents, providing exceptional customer service and addressing any concerns or issues they may have.
  • Maintain logbooks and databases, entering service requests and status updates into our system to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in monitoring contractors' work performance, ensuring they meet our high standards and expectations.
  • Support the Service Manager in meeting budget responsibilities, working collaboratively to achieve our financial goals.
  • Follow and promote company policies and procedures, upholding our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Make customer service a priority, ensuring every interaction with our residents is positive and memorable.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in apartment maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Budget or basic business finance knowledge, with the ability to manage resources effectively.
  • Refrigeration certification (Type 2 or Universal) or obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
  • A valid driver's license, free from major moving violations, and dependable transportation.
Physical Requirements
  • The ability to use various hand tools and test equipment, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • The ability to bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • The ability to push and pull up to 300 pounds on wheels, with a focus on ensuring the safe movement of equipment and materials.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • The ability to climb ladders of up to 40 feet in height, with a focus on ensuring safe access to all areas of the community.
  • The ability to use a hand-truck, with a focus on efficiently moving equipment and materials.
