Job Title

Principal R&D Electrical Engineer (Medical Devices)

You will have control over the outcome of next-generation medical devices and will be leading new product introductions by having input on all phases of electrical engineering design and development. This hybrid role will be based in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Your Role:

  • Take ownership and drive design and development activities for circuit design, schematic capture, power budgeting, thermal management, and meeting EMI/EMC requirements for future generations of medical devices.
  • Work with systems engineering, mechanical, and other cross-functional team members to design electronic hardware to meet system-level functional and architectural requirements and connect and align with project management on project content, timeline, and costs.
  • Conduct concept and feasibility studies. Lead the introduction of new technologies and act as electrical lead to review and provide oversight of R&D activities (i.e., internal and external support) developing medical devices. Oversee all design and development activities of the modules and sub-systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in problem-solving and electrical hardware design activities and drive definition of electrical architecture for current and advanced development projects.
  • Lead design reviews, FMEA analyses, and other DfX-related activities and translate architecture specifications into usable digital engineering data/requirements applicable to the subsystem and product level.

You're the Right Fit If:

  • You have acquired 15+ years of experience with 10+ years as a senior electrical designer or electrical team lead, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required) and experienced with CE, EMC, and UL regulations and more specifically with regulations for developing medical devices and equipment.
  • Design experience with microcontrollers and/or FPGAs and be fully competent with simulate, synthesis, debug, and integration tools for test on hardware.
  • Proven team player who can lead a team of electrical engineers in a multidisciplinary project and work according to the V model in defining requirements, test specifications, supervising execution of the tests, and reporting the test results.
  • You're able to work in a cross-functional international team environment with strong communication skills and the ability to interact at all levels in the organization. Ability to travel 10-15%, including international travel.
