Position Overview
As an integral part of the academic support system, this role is designed to provide guidance and advice to both undergraduate and graduate students regarding their educational journeys and achievements. The position involves maintaining essential student records and engaging with a variety of stakeholders including students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Engagement: Conduct meetings with students to address inquiries and concerns related to their academic programs, including but not limited to program requirements, registration processes, and academic policies.
2. Information Management: Execute reference searches and manage access to records in response to student queries.
3. Faculty Collaboration: Assist faculty members with administrative tasks and student-related issues as needed.
4. Record Keeping: Generate assessment reports and maintain comprehensive student records, files, and databases.
5. Curriculum Review: Oversee and process actions related to curriculum changes.
6. Interdepartmental Interaction: Collaborate with other academic units for joint program initiatives.
7. Event Coordination: Organize and schedule student events as required.
8. Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of three to four years of relevant experience in an academic advising or related role is preferred.
Preferred Skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and proficiency in specialized software applications are advantageous.
Core Competencies
This position necessitates a solid understanding of university-level academic program requirements and associated administrative processes. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency, are essential.
