We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Academic Advisor I to provide administrative support to department undergraduate directors, assist with advisement-related events, and maintain accurate records in Navigate.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and one year of related experience, with knowledge of Banner, Degree Works, Argos, and CAMPUS/EAD. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advises prospective and current students on academic requirements and course selection.
- Disseminates information on university policies and procedures to faculty, staff, students, and parents.
- Maintains accurate student records and makes changes as necessary.
- Analyzes and processes requests for financial aid reinstatements and provides retention services for students in the Academic Improvement Program.
- Audits student records for curriculum, major, and graduation requirements.
- Evaluates and determines transfer credits and researches course descriptions.
- Compares transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements and advises students on appropriate actions.
- Monitors student registration activities and academic performance and progress.
- Coordinates communications to students regarding course scheduling, core and major requirements, and academic resources.
- Refers students with academic discrepancies to proper offices for further review.
- Monitors and tracks the retention, progression, and graduation of all students within assigned populations.
- Maintains and updates current student records on information systems.
- Assists in the preparation of special reports relating to enrollment and related matters.
- Participates in university, college, and area advisement training, development, and planning meetings and activities.
- Participates in college, departmental, and other meetings related to undergraduate programs.
- Assists in leadership of area-based advisement clusters and serves as college liaisons to departments.
Qualifications:
Minimum hiring qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred hiring qualifications: Knowledge of and experience with Banner, Degree Works, Argos, CAMPUS/EAD.
