Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. This role will provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned Mechanical Engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned Mechanical Engineering projects and programs.
  • Participates as a team member to review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects.
  • Contributes to Mechanical Engineering design plans and requirements.
  • Serves as Project Manager or Technical Advisor, on small-to-medium site Engineering projects.
  • Develops Mechanical Engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls and protection of the environment.
  • Participates with Operations and Maintenance departments and other Engineering staff in problem solving efforts to improve safety, efficiencies, cost controls and protection of the environment.
  • Provides technical and Mechanical Engineering support to assigned groups/departments at site.
  • Assists Operations and Maintenance departments with the implementation of new technology.
  • Cordinates project activities with Operations and Maintenance departments to facilitate project completion.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation for assigned projects are prepared and reviews documentation for accuracy.
  • Responsible for ensuring successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budget time and cost constraints.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
What We Offer

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $87,000-$121,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
