Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive HR support across multiple areas, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide HR support to various departments, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
  • Administer benefits programs, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to support business objectives.
  • Collaborate with management to resolve employee relations issues and provide guidance on HR-related matters.
  • Manage employee data and maintain accurate records, including personnel files and benefits information.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee knowledge and skills.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees, management, and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a higher education or government setting.
  • Knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SHRM-CP or HRCI certification.
  • Experience working in a higher education or government setting.
  • Knowledge of State and University Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and recruitment software.
