Job Summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Power Applications Engineer to deliver innovative solutions in network modeling, analysis, power flow, security/contingency analysis, and real-time control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Network Applications and Control.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze and understand customer engineering, business, and software requirements to propose technically feasible solutions.
Design, develop, test, integrate, and document network applications and related work for customer projects.
Support software releases and assist onsite/support teams with expert knowledge, problem analysis, and resolution of defects.
Actively research and own knowledge in power system analysis, market operation, optimization, and real-time control.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Power Network Applications and Control.
Master's degree with 2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Network Applications and Control.
Demonstrated programming skills in high-performance languages such as C/FORTRAN.
Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux or similar.
Proficient skills in English written and oral communication.

Desirable Qualifications

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on analysis of de-regulated electricity markets.
Formal classroom education in Power Systems Optimization and Data Structures and Databases.
Experience with Power Systems Network Modeling, Network Topological Analysis, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimator, Security Constrained Unit Commitment, Economic Dispatch, Linear and Non-Linear Programming (Optimization), and Numerical Methods.
Experience developing power system application software for Electric Utilities or Electricity Markets.
Experience with multi-threading, high-performance, memory-intensive analytical applications.
