Job Overview

North Coast Logistics Inc is seeking a dedicated HR Generalist to oversee the essential functions of our Human Resources department. This role involves managing various HR activities, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance with labor regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment: Identify and attract qualified candidates for open positions, collaborating with department leaders to understand the necessary skills and competencies.
  • Onboarding: Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth transition for new employees.
  • Background Checks: Conduct or coordinate background checks and eligibility verifications for new hires.
  • Staffing Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for temporary staffing agencies.
  • Training Compliance: Monitor and document compliance with mandatory training and continuing education requirements.
  • HR Program Administration: Execute HR programs related to payroll, benefits, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Employee Inquiries: Address employment-related questions from staff and refer complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Disciplinary Actions: Participate in employee disciplinary meetings and investigations.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Policy Development: Assist in maintaining and updating the employee handbook and safety manual.
  • HRIS Management: Oversee the HR Information System and support employee interactions with it.
  • Engagement Initiatives: Develop and implement employee engagement strategies and activities.
  • Leave Management: Administer various leave programs, including FMLA and general leave.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in time management and able to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with HRIS and talent management systems preferred.
  • 5-7 years of HR experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Human Resources is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to navigate various departments within the organization.
