Job Description

Position Overview

The UCLA/Getty Interdepartmental Degree Program in the Conservation of Cultural Heritage invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. This appointment will be split 50:50 between the UCLA/Getty Conservation IDP and an appropriate home department within the Social Sciences Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach at the graduate and undergraduate level
  • Conduct research in the field of cultural heritage conservation
  • Supervise student research in both the Conservation IDP and the home department
  • Participate in service activities, including departmental and university-wide committees

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field
  • Expertise in Native American/Indigenous cultural heritage
  • Experience working with collections and Native American/Indigenous communities
  • Research specialization in Traditional Ecological Knowledge, Visual Anthropology, Museum Studies, Tribal Law, or other similar fields

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sustained engagement with Native American or Pacific Islander communities
  • Ability to bridge material and cultural knowledge
  • Experience with multidisciplinary research and teaching
