About the Role

The Sterile Processing Department Supervisor of Education is responsible for ensuring that SPD associates are properly trained and operating within the guidelines set forth by industry standards and regulations throughout the Delaware Valley.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Nemours Ambulatory Surgery Facilities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to standardize and optimize SPD practices in achieving positive patient outcomes.
  • Provide departmental leadership, associate supervision, and support workflow activities that occur in the sterile processing and decontamination areas at NCH-DE.
  • Ensure that unit staffing is adequate to support all sterile processing and decontamination processes utilizing current techniques for preparation of reusable instrument trays and supplies for the operating room and other units within the NCH-DE facility.
  • Maintain associate competencies with regard to instrumentation, endoscopes, and probe reprocessing functions throughout the DV.
  • Monitor and maintain all DV sterilization records in accordance with current regulatory standards.
  • Complete weekly audits of sterilization and decontamination processes and provide monthly reports.
  • Collaborate with Perioperative Services leadership to identify SPD learning needs, ensure annual training, and complete new associate orientation throughout the DV.
Requirements
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) required.
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon hire and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
