Financial Planning Manager

The Center for Justice Innovation is a community justice organization that centers safety and racial justice. We are seeking an experienced Financial Planning Manager to join our Finance team to assist with the financial planning and budget management for the organization.
About the RoleThe Financial Planning Manager will report to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of project grants, budgets, revenue, expenditures, and contract compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the nonprofit financial field, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a talent for translating financial concepts to non-financial staff.
Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of project grants, budgets, revenue, expenditures, and contract compliance;
- Supervise a team of budget analysts;
- Assist with relationship management and reporting to government agencies, private funders, and other outside stakeholders;
- Provide financial review and approval of the Center's revenue and expense contracts;
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual close and identify adjusting journal entries as needed;
- Review and approval of vendor invoices, expense reports, and corporate card reconciliations;
- Assist with internal financial reporting and communication to key stakeholders;
- Support Director with financial duties and special projects as needed;
- Additional tasks as necessary.
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, accounting, business administration, or other related fields;
- At least 5-7 years of demonstrable experience including supervisory experience and success in nonprofit financial management preferred;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills;
- Excellent written and verbal skills;
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is crucial to meet deadlines and manage time effectively;
- You should have the capability to work independently and prioritize tasks to ensure the timely completion of projects;
- Handle sensitive information which requires maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion;
- A positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset are essential to foster a collaborative work environment;
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities are essential to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
