Sales Manager Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Sales Manager to lead and manage a team of Outside Sales Representatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales leadership, a deep understanding of the equipment industry, and the ability to motivate and direct a team to achieve ambitious sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Manage a Sales Team: Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to a team of Outside Sales Representatives, ensuring they meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Territory Management: Oversee the sales activities within the assigned territory, developing and implementing effective strategies to grow market share and increase sales revenue for heavy equipment and agricultural equipment.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior management to establish sales goals, create plans to expand customer base, and introduce new products to the market.
  • Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, dealers, and partners to ensure long-term business success and customer satisfaction.
  • Training & Development: Provide ongoing sales training and development to the sales team to enhance their product knowledge, sales techniques, and overall performance.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for business growth and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Sales Reporting: Track and report on sales performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, product, and service teams to ensure alignment on sales strategies, promotions, and customer service initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of sales experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role, preferably in the heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or related industries.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of heavy equipment and agricultural machinery, including market dynamics, customer needs, and industry trends.
  • Sales Skills: Proven ability to develop and execute successful sales strategies, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze sales data, market conditions, and customer feedback to make informed decisions.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel within the assigned territory as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
