Job Overview

Hooper Deforest is seeking a highly skilled Project Director to lead our construction projects from start to finish. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for acquiring new business opportunities, planning, organizing, and coordinating project preparations and executions while meeting cost, quality, equipment utilization, and safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships to pursue and acquire new business opportunities.
  • Prepare project estimates, budgets, schedules, and assist in project contract negotiations.
  • Monitor adherence to project plans, specifications, and contractual documents.
  • Work closely with architects and engineers to resolve design-related construction issues.
  • Keep customers informed of project progress and negotiate fee changes.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate manpower, equipment, tools, and supply needs to achieve project objectives.
  • Purchase equipment and standardized materials, and monitor maintenance and safeguarding of equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Manage administrative aspects of contracts, including change orders, rental equipment, timesheet coding, billing, and expenses.
  • Maintain sound union relationships with field employees and local business managers.
  • Complete job closeout process, including resolution of punch list items, recording of as-built drawings, and distribution of operating and maintenance manuals.

Requirements:

  • 4-year BS degree in engineering, construction management, or completion of apprenticeship in a respective discipline.
  • 3-5 years of prior experience with related construction industry projects.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and guide teams involved with company projects, or supervise field crews through foremen.
  • Comfortable tracking and maintaining a wide range of project budgets.

Work Environment:

  • Works in a standard office environment with occasional field construction site visits.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders and steps on site.
