Volunteers of America Oregon is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Counselor I to provide relief services in our organization. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health and addiction counseling services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling services to clients, utilizing evidence-based treatment models.
- Conduct substance abuse assessments, diagnoses, and make client placement decisions using standardized instruments and criteria.
- Identify client mental health concerns for referral and further assessment.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for clients in consultation with the client, their family (when appropriate), and community partners.
- Maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, court reports, assessments, and summaries.
- CADC I certification required at time of hire or within 24 months of registering with MHACBO.
- Relevant coursework or 1 year experience in counseling, psychology, social work, addictions treatment, or a related field.
- Knowledge of criminal behavior and at-risk populations.
- Familiarity with reentry issues facing justice-involved populations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Reliable form of transportation.
This is a relief position, working 0-19 hours per week. The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25 pounds. The work environment is a professional office setting with moderate light and temperature.
