Job Title: Mental Health Counselor

Central City Concern is a leading nonprofit agency providing comprehensive services to individuals and families impacted by homelessness, poverty, and addiction. We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Mental Health Counselor will provide person-centered, trauma-informed care to clients experiencing mental health and substance use symptoms. This role requires a strong understanding of Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and trauma-informed care. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and document substance use disorder and mental health assessments, including mental status exams and clinical formulations.
  • Develop strengths-based treatment plans and collaborate with clients to achieve their goals.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions, including addiction as a disease process, recovery, and trauma-informed care components.
  • Assess and respond to mental health and substance abuse crises in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide comprehensive care to clients.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a related field, such as counseling, psychology, or social work.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
