This role necessitates a blend of technical expertise for conducting thorough assessments and strategic planning for existing enterprise applications and systems, along with strong interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration across various departments.
The selected candidate will collaborate with RDTS leadership and government personnel to formulate plans based on scheduled evaluations of systems and applications, ensuring alignment with the mission objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position include conducting comprehensive security evaluations (either full or partial) on each system (up to nine systems) within the Cybersecurity portfolio.
The specific systems requiring assessments will be identified by the Program Manager and Government Lead, contingent on the current workload.
The Cybersecurity Systems Assurance Specialist will independently execute IT audits on intricate information systems, applications, and enclaves to verify that appropriate security controls are in place, effectively implemented, and compliant with established standards.
The individual will carry out cybersecurity control validation exercises on both classified and unclassified networks, applications, and systems to assess the efficacy of existing security measures.
They will conduct precise evaluations to determine the requisite level of security and implement all necessary procedures to safeguard information systems assets from unauthorized access or damage.
The role also involves providing technical support in areas such as vulnerability assessment, risk management, network security, and security implementation. The candidate will assess customer systems and recommend enhancements to bolster security.
Additionally, the candidate will develop a Security Assessment Plan (SAP) in accordance with relevant guidelines, outlining the scope of the system assessment.
The SAP will encompass:
Security controls and enhancements under review. Procedures for assessing the effectiveness of security controls. Assessment environment, team composition, and defined roles and responsibilities.
The outcomes of the security assessment will be documented in the Security Assessment Report (SAR), Security Requirements Compliance Matrix (SRCM), and the Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M).
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or a related cybersecurity field. A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience. A fundamental understanding of security applications is essential. Experience with security scanning tools is required.
Candidates must possess a solid understanding of security configurations and be capable of balancing business requirements with security considerations, analyzing applied mitigations to ensure compliance with security standards.
Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.Additional Requirements:
Experience with scripting and familiarity with host-based and application layer scanning technologies. Knowledge of cloud-based systems is advantageous. Strong understanding of security principles and common vulnerabilities is essential.
Experience across the full spectrum of information technologies and associated security models, including server/OS, database, hardware, network devices, and application development life cycle, is preferred.
