Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite a book of business, both new and renewal, in accordance with underwriting guidelines and company policies.
  • Analyze policies and endorsements to identify errors, omissions, or discrepancies, and ensure that all agreements are in place.
  • Order necessary reports and documents, such as credit, location, and motor vehicle reports, to support the underwriting process.
  • Analyze inspection reports to accept or reject new business, and issue policies and endorsements as needed.
  • Prepare renewal specifications and maintain coverage bordereaux, ensuring that all necessary information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Coordinate the preparation of policy delivery and related documents, and provide excellent customer service to account managers and clients.
  • Maintain files for submissions and written or lost business, and conduct follow-ups as necessary.
  • Serve as a technical expert, assisting account managers to resolve complex issues, and assist in training of assistant underwriters and administrative staff.
  • Comply with agency management system data standards and data integrity, ensuring that all information is complete and accurate.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six (6) or more years related work experience, with knowledge of the insurance industry preferred.
  • Valid insurance license, with requirements for license renewal.
  • Valid driver's license.
Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills.
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and foster teamwork.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills.
