Respiratory Care Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. As a member of our healthcare staff, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of respiratory medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Makes daily rounds on all patients and reviews orders for therapy
- Documents the results of therapy and patient response to treatment (pulse, breath sounds, sputum production, shortness of breath etc.)
- Draws arterial blood gases
- Documents patient teaching as needed
- Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation and adjust settings per physician orders
- Documents endotracheal intubation and post intubation x-ray findings
- Responds to request for assistance with patients with respiratory distress in a timely fashion
- Must have ability to function autonomously
- Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department
- Maintains ethical relationships
- Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations
- Participates in in-service programs
Requirements:
- Minimum of an A.A.S. in Respiratory Care required
- Four (4) years of critical care experience preferred
- Licensed by the State of New York Education Department as a Respiratory Therapist required
- Registered by the NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) required
- Member of the AARC (American Association for Respiratory Care) preferred
Compensation:
The estimated salary for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
