Title: Facility Maintenance Specialist

Report To: Maintenance Supervisor

Position Type: Full-time, Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Overview

The Facility Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in the effective execution of preventive maintenance, repairs, and installations to ensure seamless operations. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is part of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 10d.

Purpose

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is tasked with the installation, repair, and maintenance of the infrastructure within the distillery. This includes mechanical and electrical systems, distillery machinery, as well as the facilities and surrounding grounds. The Specialist will ensure that the plant operates reliably, achieving optimal efficiency and quality through support of systems controls, continuous improvement initiatives, and preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Time Allocation

  1. Primary Duties 90%

General Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and respond promptly to equipment failures or breakdowns across the facility.
  • Execute metalworking tasks (such as welding and pipefitting) to support distillery operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, steam, and mechanical systems in an industrial environment, including distillery equipment, boilers, chillers, and air compressors.
  • Maintain and repair material transfer systems, including bucket elevators, airlocks, and pneumatic receivers.
  • Install, repair, and maintain motors, pumps, blowers, and piping essential for distillery operations.
  • Address general facility maintenance needs for operational, administrative, and retail areas.
  • Document maintenance activities using a management software system.

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Understand and implement Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Familiarity with Confined Space Work Procedures.
  • Knowledge of Hot Work Procedures.
  • Awareness of Overhead Work Procedures.
  • Conduct job responsibilities in a manner that promotes a strong food safety culture, ensuring the safety and quality of products.
  1. Secondary Duties 10%

  • Familiarity with industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and manuals.
  1. Education and Experience
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • General knowledge of instrumentation and industrial maintenance technology.
  • Associate degree in engineering, applied science, industrial maintenance, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in industrial or distillery maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC, boiler operations, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  1. Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience in the spirits industry.

  1. Supervisory Responsibility

The Facility Maintenance Specialist does not have direct reports.

  1. Work Environment

This position operates within the distillery and may require travel to nearby locations for supply procurement as needed.

  1. Travel Requirements

Travel may be necessary between various locations and to nearby vendors for supply purchases.

  1. Physical Demands
