Position Overview
This role is a full-time, on-site position at MDRSC in Russell Springs, KY. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a crucial role in the design of packaging, spearheading research and development (R&D) for packaging solutions, managing projects, and applying mechanical engineering principles throughout the packaging process.
Key Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering is essential.
- A comprehensive understanding of value stream mapping, Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP), and lean methodologies.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A collaborative team player with excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience is required.
- Six Sigma certification (green or black belt) is advantageous.
- Experience in Continuous Improvement/Lean management, time studies, and project development within the automotive supply sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of pilot projects and feasibility assessments.
- Oversee and manage specialized projects within the plant's operations.
- Facilitate product and project initiations, along with optimization and efficiency projects, while taking charge of assigned work packages.
- Provide consulting and support as a subject matter expert in areas such as Continuous Improvement, Supply Chain Management, plant logistics, Lean practices, resource efficiency, and value stream optimization.
- Plan investments and manage budgets for project implementations, along with associated reporting.
- Coordinate and manage projects with multiple interfaces, including international collaborations with customers and suppliers.
- Ensure adherence to value stream, Continuous Improvement, and Lean principles within the designated area of responsibility.
- Maintain a consistent flow of information and lead project team members according to established project plans and objectives.
- Identify optimization opportunities, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Take responsibility for the Continuous Improvement processes.
- Define and implement strategies to achieve Continuous Improvement goals, including regular reporting on project progress and key performance indicators within the plant.
- Oversee the execution and implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
