Job Overview

Position: Facilities Maintenance/Plumber


Salary: Grade 11 - $37.30 per hour; compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.


Role Summary:

Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager, this role encompasses a range of skilled technical tasks associated with the planning, organization, and execution of facility maintenance and operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, operate, and conduct preventive maintenance on plumbing fixtures across all municipal facilities, including toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, and more.
  • Ensure compliance with facility security protocols; maintain and oversee the functionality of various security systems, including alarms and emergency lighting.
  • Respond to system alerts, assess the situation, and implement necessary solutions.
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance projects, acting as a lead technician.
  • Maintain an inventory of plumbing materials and supplies.
  • Perform custodial tasks within city-owned buildings as required.
  • Transport senior citizens to recreational activities using a passenger van.
  • Clear snow and ice from city facilities and walkways.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification or specialized training in plumbing.
  • At least 5 years of plumbing experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or HVAC.
  • 2+ years of experience with computerized maintenance systems.
  • Gas technician certification.
  • Custodial experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective email and internet skills.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Special Requirements:

Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. A valid driver's license with a good driving history is required. Employment verification is also necessary.
