Job Responsibilities

Provides financial assistance to the Business Office with a focus on accounts payable. Reviews, processes, and evaluates a variety of data to ensure precision and adherence to established protocols. Executes technical financial and accounting tasks by preparing and maintaining financial records and reports. Guarantees that all accounting activities are conducted in compliance with the policies and procedures of the Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Department of Accounts (DOA).

Essential Qualifications

Proven ability to perform meticulous work with numerical data and to execute mathematical calculations swiftly and accurately. Familiarity with sound bookkeeping and accounting principles and practices. Demonstrated capability to prepare standard financial reports and statements. Significant knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment. Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, to fulfill office support needs. Skilled in entering data into an automated database beyond Microsoft Office. Proven ability to communicate effectively and provide information to employees and staff. Capable of interpreting and adhering to prescribed operating instructions and related policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Additional Considerations

Advanced knowledge in accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent training. Familiarity with State Financial Programs such as CARDINAL, Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System (FAACS), Inmate Trust, and Inmate Pay. Understanding of State travel policies.
