Job Overview

Iowa Cannabis Company is thrilled to present an opportunity for an Assistant Retail Manager at our Iowa City location. We are dedicated to enhancing the retail experience within the medical cannabis sector, and we seek a committed individual to join our forward-thinking team for a full-time position of 40 hours per week. No previous experience in cannabis or dispensary operations is necessary.

We proudly operate a comprehensive network of three medical dispensaries in Iowa, along with a medical cannabis manufacturing facility. Our team of over 170 passionate professionals is at the forefront of our mission, and as we grow, this role offers a unique chance to contribute to the advancement of the medical cannabidiol industry, which has significant potential to improve patient quality of life.

Availability:
  • Flexible scheduling options available within our operating hours of Monday - Sunday, 8 am - 8 pm.
Key Qualifications:
  • Experience in medical office settings, sales, customer service, or retail is advantageous.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong customer-centric approach are vital.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check.
Responsibilities:

Engage with patients in a welcoming and informative manner, ensuring a positive retail experience.

  • Assist in managing inventory to guarantee product availability and diversity.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the success and compliance of retail operations.

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate and communicate operational functions to upper management.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service for all patients.
  • Handle escalated patient situations with professionalism.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Stay informed about proper potency and dosage for various medical conditions.
  • Educate patients on products and application methods.
  • Provide direct service to customers, including financial transactions and accurate database entries.
  • Dispense products accurately and efficiently using math skills and point of sale systems.
  • Maintain strict inventory controls and cleanliness of the retail space.
  • Participate in ongoing training as scheduled.
  • Be willing to work with plants at all growth stages.
  • Ability to work a consistent schedule and demonstrate reliable attendance.
  • Open and close retail locations as required.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
  • Job duties may involve indoor and outdoor work throughout the year.
  • Employees may encounter challenging vendor, customer, or employee situations requiring patience and professionalism.
  • Work may involve sedentary tasks, active standing, and occasional kneeling.
  • Production facilities and retail locations operate year-round, with shifts typically between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks may be required.
  • Exposure to strong odors and varying temperatures may occur.
  • Employees may work in confined spaces, such as plant growing areas.
  • Potential exposure to allergens and chemicals is common in this industry.
  • Regular cleaning and sanitization of the work area are necessary to maintain a safe environment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
  • Proficient in operating computers and productivity technology.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to observe details closely and accurately.
  • Must be able to perform other job duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
  • Compliance with all regulatory requirements for the cannabis industry is mandatory.
  • Ability to follow instructions and internalize training consistently.
  • Clear and effective communication skills are required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • 1-3 years of customer service or retail experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years of management experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Availability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • High level of customer service is essential.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate positively with team members.
  • Skills in training and developing personnel are important.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
