Job Summary

At Owensboro Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Scheduling Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Utilize computerized scheduling programs to schedule appointment times, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing wait times.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless coordination of procedures and patient care.
  • Patient Engagement: Provide clear and concise pre-procedure instructions to patients and/or their families, ensuring they are well-informed and prepared for their procedures.
  • Administrative Support: Perform insurance verification and pre-authorizations as necessary, and manage the referral work queue, entering patient demographic information and scanning documents into our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Correspondence and Reporting: Correspond with referring providers and patients for reports, information exchange, scheduling, and paperwork, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Licensure/Certification: No licensure/certification/registration required.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless coordination of procedures and patient care.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced healthcare environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
Physical Demands
  • Standing and Walking: Stand and walk occasionally.
  • Sitting and Repetitive Tasks: Sit frequently and perform repetitive tasks, such as data entry and paperwork.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Rarely lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
