Job Title: Driver / CDL

At Standard Sales Company, L.P., we are seeking a skilled and experienced Driver / CDL to join our team. As a key member of our distribution team, you will be responsible for the safe operation of commercial delivery vehicles, ensuring the security of truck inventory, accurate delivery, verification, invoicing, and payment collection of products being sold.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify products being sold and deliver them accurately to retail customers
  • Build and maintain relationships with retailers and navigate difficult situations
  • Adhere to company policies and laws related to product invoicing, signatures, and payment collection
  • Organize daily paperwork and be accountable for all sales invoices, monetary deposits, and product inventory associated with the assigned delivery route
  • Assist in resolving credit issues and collecting past due balances
  • Knowledge of market territory and ability to efficiently navigate vehicles to scheduled accounts
  • Adhere to all state, federal, and DOT requirements related to commercial vehicle operation, hours of service records, pre- and post-trip inspections, licensing, and safety
  • Follow company policies and procedures regarding product freshness, rotation, and handling of close-to-code products
  • Safely load and unload products from delivery trailers
  • Monitor truck inventory for out-of-stocks and close-to-code products
  • Follow all product handling procedures according to each retailer's policy
  • Execute delivery instructions from Delivery Supervisors, Sales Representatives, and District Managers
  • Merchandise displays and organize inventory storage areas
  • Stock retail shelves according to current shelf schematics
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and safe operation of all company vehicles and equipment
  • Repair and repackage damaged goods
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with other team members
  • Maintain a clean work environment, including tractors, trailers, and designated areas at retail
  • Supervise delivery assistant performance and execution when assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Ability to use a 2-wheel dolly, wheeler, or hand truck
  • Good communication skills and ability to work and collaborate effectively with others
  • Effective time management skills
  • Positive customer service skills
  • Valid Class A CDL license and maintain a good driving record
  • DOT Medical Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Customer service skills and good communication abilities
  • Prior beverage delivery or DSD delivery experience
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to move products weighing up to 165 pounds
  • Hang merchandise as needed
  • Repetitive lifting, up to 50 pounds overhead
  • Bending, pulling/pushing up to 340 pounds on a two-wheeler
  • Ability to continuously stand or walk
  • Ability to bend and occasionally squat
  • Occasional carrying and reaching
