We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Computing Engineer - Error Correction Specialist to join our team at IonQ Inc. as a Staff Quantum Error Correction Engineer. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will play a critical role in developing efficient simulation tools to support quantum error correction (QEC) modeling and simulations of our trapped-ion quantum computer.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Efficient Algorithms: Design and implement efficient algorithms for QEC to simulate various device noise models using low-level languages.
- Collaborate with Research and Development Team: Work closely with our research and development team to support simulation needs for QEC for next-generation quantum systems and integration of the simulation software with the rest of the software stack.
- Build and Maintain Software Infrastructure: Help build, maintain, and test software infrastructure necessary to enable circuit simulations at scale.
- Document and Communicate Technical Findings: Document and communicate technical findings to the engineering team.
- Integrate Simulation Software: Integrate simulation software with other software in the simulation stack.
- Contribute to Automation and Testing: Contribute to the automation, testing, and parallelization of the codebase and simulation workflow.
- Advanced Degree in Physics, Engineering, or Related Field: Advanced degree in physics, engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Programming Experience: Experience in C/C++ or Julia and Python for scientific computing and significant programming experience.
- PhD in Quantum Physics: PhD in quantum physics.
- 10+ Years of Experience: 10+ years of experience in a professional setting.
- Experience in Quantum Error Correction: Experience in quantum error correction.
- Experience in Graph Theory and Z2 Algebra: Experience in graph theory and Z2 algebra.
- Parallel Programming Experience: Experience in parallel programming on CPU/GPU in Python/C++ or Julia.
- Experience with AMO Physics and Trapped Ion Systems: Experience with atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics and trapped ion systems.
- Scripting and Automation Experience: Experience with scripting and automating workflows in high-performance computing environments.
This position is located in our newest facility in Bothell, WA.
