Salary/Grade: $45,500 annually; Exempt, Grade 11

The mission of The Salvation Army Children's Services is to "Do the Most Good by Nurturing Children, Strengthening Families, and Engaging Communities." This is achieved through protecting and caring for children, enhancing caregiver capacity via trauma-informed education and support, and collaborating with local organizations committed to foster care and adoption.
As a Foster Care Family Worker, your primary responsibility will be to deliver case management services for foster children who have experienced significant adversity, ensuring a nurturing environment conducive to healing for both the children and their resource families. You will also provide essential support and resources to foster families while safeguarding the health and safety of the children in care. Furthermore, you will engage with birth families to oversee family visits and facilitate plans for reunification.
This role also offers the opportunity to gain experience in applying Trust-Based Relational Intervention principles and collaborating with the agency's Growing Relationships, Outcomes, and Well-being (GROW) initiative to create innovative educational programs that foster healing for families and children.
QualificationsRequirements:
- A Master's degree in Social Work or a related field with a minimum of three years of experience in a human services environment serving children and/or families, or a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience.
- Understanding of the impacts of separation, loss, neglect, and abuse on children, as well as complex developmental trauma.
- Experience in foster care and permanency services providing child and family support.
- Certification or substantial training in trauma-informed care.
- A valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and a safe driving record are required.
- Flexibility in work hours is essential, with on-call duties expected.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, engagement, advocacy, organizational, and computer skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Completion of Child Protection Clearances as mandated by PA Act 153, including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
- A commitment to and understanding of the mission of The Salvation Army.
