Position SummaryThe Program Manager plays a crucial role in the design, implementation, and assessment of various educational initiatives offered by the Museum. This position encompasses both established programs and the creation of innovative educational experiences available at the Museum and in the community. The Program Manager acts as the primary contact and representative for individuals, businesses, organizations, and agencies regarding educational outreach and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Foster educational engagement among all Museum visitors, catering to diverse age groups.
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of exhibits, programs, and local history to effectively engage with a wide range of audiences.
- Design, execute, and assess educational and public programs tailored for participants of varying ages and abilities, ensuring inclusivity.
- Establish partnerships with local educational institutions and community organizations to provide on-site and off-site programming aligned with educational standards and community interests.
- Oversee the logistics and scheduling for visiting groups, ensuring adequate staffing and volunteer support for events.
- Prepare materials and coordinate staff and volunteers for educational activities and events.
- Set and implement objectives, as well as short- and long-term planning for educational and community programs.
- Continuously evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments based on feedback from staff and visitors, as well as attendance data.
- Represent the Museum at local community events to promote educational programs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and district policies while performing job duties.
- Be knowledgeable about the safe operation of necessary equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Capable of lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently.
- Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to independently set up for programs and events, including arranging furniture and equipment.
- Occasional travel to community venues for outreach initiatives.
- Flexible availability, including weekdays, Saturdays, and occasional evenings.
- CPR certification required within three months of hire (training provided).
- Passion for education and interactive programming for diverse audiences.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Capability to work independently and lead programs with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to high standards of customer service.
- Familiarity with relevant safety practices.
- Associate's degree in History, Education, or a related field, or a minimum of two years of experience in formal or informal education. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Preferred experience in a museum or educational setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Google Drive is required; knowledge of Canva and/or Adobe editing software is a plus.
