MercyFirst's A Safe Way Forward Program (SWF) provides comprehensive prevention services to child welfare involved families affected by intimate partner violence (IPV). Our trauma-informed approach offers therapeutic case management and evidence-based intervention modalities to address IPV, promoting safety, stability, and well-being for all family members.
Job SummaryThe SWF Clinician is responsible for delivering individual, family, couples, and group clinical interventions with members of the family system experiencing IPV. This role requires a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, emphasizing short-term and long-term goals to restore safety, protect children from future exposure to IPV, and promote healing and improved family relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct assessments with family members to drive the development of individual, couple, and family treatment plans designed to restore safety and promote stability and well-being outcomes.
- Participate in weekly rounds with the Case Management Team to ensure an integrated approach to case management and clinical services are aligned with family needs.
- Train and participate in the implementation of evidence-based/supported models of practice and treatment, including Trauma-Focused-CBT (TF-CBT), Alternatives for Families CBT (AF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-IPV (CBT-IPV), and Domestic Violence Focused Couples Therapy (DV-FCT).
- Complete timely and accurate Clinical Progress Notes and Treatment Plans, and maintain case documentation and data entry into systems of record.
- Be available to assist with 24-hour on-call support to program personnel and clients.
- Participate in weekly supervision, program meetings, trainings, and workshops to enhance professional development and advance program development initiatives.
- New York State Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required.
- Prior experience working with children and families known to the Child Welfare system, impacted by abuse and trauma required.
- Prior experience working with families affected by IPV and demonstrating cultural competence and a commitment to anti-racism work required.
