Job Title: Assistant Director of Capital Planning

White Mountains Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Director of Capital Planning. This position will play a critical role in the planning, design, and development of capital projects, including the construction of new facilities and the renovation of existing ones.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Capital Planning and Development in all aspects of capital project planning, design, and development.
  • Oversee the management of deferred and critical maintenance work across the college.
  • Monitor contractual maintenance programs for the college.
  • Work with college leadership to determine objectives, requirements, and plans for renovation and construction projects.
  • Prepare structural/project specifications to provide preliminary cost estimates and construction timelines.
  • Manage a portfolio of renovation and construction projects, including the preparation of scaled drawings, contract documents, and ensuring code compliance.
  • Direct the work of third-party architectural and engineering firms.
  • Oversee the work of construction managers, consultants, and contractors on assigned capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Serve as the liaison for all projects and act as the point person for programs that directly affect the planning and development of capital projects.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in civil engineering, architectural engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of work experience as an architect or civil engineer with experience in the design and/or construction of buildings, including construction planning, design, and oversight.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of New Hampshire or a licensed Professional Engineer in another state and obtain licensure in NH within one year of employment; or licensed to practice architecture in the State of New Hampshire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of architectural and/or civil engineering principles and practices applied in construction.
  • Knowledge of the principles of effective supervision and administration.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to the application of construction safety, materials, and sustainability.
