Position: 100 Sails - Bar Back

Overview:

The Bar Back at 100 Sails plays a crucial role in enhancing the guest experience by providing exceptional support to bartenders and ensuring a well-organized bar environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be attentive to guests' needs, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks across various departments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bar area and equipment.
  • Assist bartenders in ensuring that all products and supplies are readily available.

Essential Duties:

  • Adhere to Federal and State liquor laws and hotel policies when serving beverages.
  • Recognize and address any concerns from patrons promptly.
  • Welcome guests warmly and build rapport to enhance their experience.
  • Ensure the bar is set up and closed down according to hotel standards.
  • Monitor bar supplies and maintain cleanliness throughout service.
  • Remove used dishes, silverware, and glassware efficiently.
  • Possess a detailed understanding of bar equipment and its proper usage.
  • Be familiar with hotel brands and beverage offerings.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and in accordance with service standards.
  • Consistently perform tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Understand the branding, history, and geography of the Hawaii Prince Waikiki.
  • Keep work and storage areas organized and clean.
  • Oversee the inventory of bar supplies.
  • Assist in the storage of delivered products and supplies.
  • Recommend hotel restaurants and facilities to guests.

Working Environment:

100 Sails Restaurant, Bar, and Kitchen is an indoor venue with air conditioning, offering a fast-paced environment focused on elegant guest service, with occasional outdoor events.

Work Schedule:

Flexibility to work day and night shifts as determined by management, with the potential for overtime as needed.

Equipment Utilization:

  • Navigate flatbed carts and hand truck dollies safely.
  • Operate draught beer dispensers and kegs.
  • Utilize coffee makers, tea brewers, cappuccino machines, and espresso machines.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Manage stressful situations while interacting with guests.
  • Stand, walk, squat, bend, and reach continuously during shifts.
  • Lift and carry up to 75 lbs and push/pull similar weights.
  • Train new employees in the same role.

Communication Skills:

Effective communication in English is essential for interactions with colleagues, management, and guests.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and writing English to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Passionate about food and beverage service, with a commitment to exceeding guest expectations.
  • Service-oriented and innovative, consistently delivering high-quality service.
  • Previous experience in a full-service bar is preferred.
  • Must meet health and safety clearance requirements.
  • Minimum age of 21 to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Obtain necessary liquor commission certification.
  • Pass a written test on beverage and food items.
