Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Join SGL Carbon as a Mechanical Designer and contribute to the development of innovative process equipment. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including 2D and 3D CAD models, using AutoCAD, Solid Edge, and other relevant software.
  • Perform mechanical strength calculations, adhering to local codes and regulations, such as EN, ASME, and CODAP.
  • Prepare general assembly drawings and detailed design drawings, including bills of material and entering BOM into SAP.
  • Approve and release drawings and BOMs, ensuring compliance with SGL Carbon's quality management program.
  • Collaborate with procurement to prepare technical specifications for steel parts, analyze bids, and place purchase orders.
  • Coordinate with fabrication teams to ensure continuous improvement of equipment design and economic fabrication.
  • Support global CAD engineering projects and provide technical clarification and consulting to customers and component suppliers.
  • Maintain resource planning and allocation of work packages, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Support product managers in standardizing process equipment and preparing equipment layout drawings and P&IDs.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree or university degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Expertise in mechanical design of process equipment and mechanical strength calculation.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, including AutoCAD, Solid Edge, and SolidWorks.
  • Experience with MS Office and SAP, with a focus on cost, quality, and efficiency.
  • Fluent in English language and ability to work well within a small team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret instructions and work independently.
