Job Summary Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Orientation and Transitions Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities associated with Student Affairs events, Orientation and Transitions programming, and other assigned programs. Key Responsibilities * Coordinate activities associated with Student Affairs events, Orientation and Transitions programming, and other assigned programs * Advise students and/or parents * Process, review, and/or evaluate student documents * Conduct student interviews * Assess student progress/needs and tutor students * Advise faculty and staff as necessary and coordinate activities * Provide training for assigned participants/students/clients * Develop, manage, and/or interpret related files (e.g., payroll, documents, reports, forms) * Maintain related supplies, equipment, and instructional materials * Develop and maintain related database and enter data as necessary * Serve as advisor and provide guidance and direction for groups * Assist in the oversight of transitional programs for the Office of Events * Orientation and Transitions including all Orientations and related student leadership groups such as SWOT * Assist with all orientation and transitions programming * Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, guests, staff, faculty, and community partners * Develop the Successful Warhawk Orientation & Transition (SWOT) Team and the leadership group, SWOT Force, including regular on-campus meetings and occasional participation in regional training conferences * Assist in developing the ambassador leadership team, Orange Jacket Society, other student leadership teams as assigned, and oversee its training * Support the planning and logistics of the student orientation program, extended orientation, and Flight Week * Coordinate office operations * Manage student and paraprofessional staff * Coordinate special projects as needed, and as related to the Office of Events, Orientation and Transitions, including the Martin Luther King Legacy Breakfast and featured cultural events such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and others * Coordinate and support Student Affairs events as assigned in conjunction with CAB, SGA, and other student leadership groups * Develop new programmatic initiatives in conjunction with other units on campus * Collaborate with university marketing to create effective marketing and PR for all orientation programs on all advertising mediums (social media and college websites, flyers, etc.) * Serve on university committees in areas that focus on student development and success * Collaborate with other AUM Divisions and Office/Departments on transitions programming * Assist the Dean of Students or his designee with selection, training, and supervision of Orientation Leaders * Manage official office communication with new students * Prepare reports and content for presentations, workshops, publications, and website * Collaborate with Admissions and Enrollment Management stakeholders to establish and utilize communication and data flows to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of student communication and data tracking Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, or related field * Two (2) years of experience in work related to student services * At least one (1) year of direct experience with orientation and transition programs * Experience working in higher education is preferred Working Conditions * Work is performed in a standard office environment * May require occasional travel to on-campus events and meetings Equal Employment Opportunity Auburn University at Montgomery is an equal opportunity employer committed to excellence through diversity; therefore, we encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
