Job Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Team Lead is a key role within the California Lawyers Association, responsible for implementing the organization's marketing and communications plan. This position oversees the daily work of the Marketing Program Managers, providing coaching and training, and conducts annual performance reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and adjust workflows to ensure timely delivery of projects meeting quality standards
- Oversee the daily work of the Marketing Program Managers; provide coaching and training; conduct annual performance reviews
- Develop and implement high-impact creative media assets that clarify the organization's value proposition and convey engaging stories that generate emotional connection
- Deliver media assets including, but not limited to, copywriting, graphic design, social media posts, email marketing, articles, newsletters, advertising, and sponsorship previews
- Manage workloads to ensure consistency, responsiveness, and performance
- Edit, proof, and verify the completeness of the team's work products
- Track and verify all commitments are fulfilled, including all components listed in sponsorship contract agreements
- Use project plans to proactively manage the development of media assets for known events and processes
- Leverage consumer insights, performance data, and knowledge of digital trends to provide creative direction and write actionable briefs
- Conduct surveys and focus groups, as assigned by the Chief Member Experience Officer
- Uphold platform and brand guidelines across copy, imagery, and layout to maximize performance
- Track and analyze performance of ongoing campaigns, regularly reviewing reports and sharing insights
- Assist in forecasting the organization's marketing and creative needs, collaborating cross-functionally on team capacity and resource planning
- Manage external creative resources and vendors to produce content on schedule and within budget
- Stay apprised of industry trends and remain up-to-date on creative best practices
- Prepare summary reports, as directed by the Chief Member Experience Officer, to inform various stakeholder groups
- Support implementation of new software platforms and launches of internal initiatives
Requirements:
- Strong acumen in graphic design, copywriting, editing/proofing, and the creation of thematic, story-driven marketing campaigns
- Understanding of best practices across marketing channels, including social media
- Experience using social media management software
- Knowledge of digital marketing technologies, media buying strategies, and audience targeting
- Experience in editing photos/video
- Experience managing marketing teams, including coaching and written assessments of performance
- Experience in project management, including the creation of checklists, forms, and performance criteria
- Proactive and self-driven, anticipating needs and heading off potential issues
- Agile and comfortable in fast-paced environment; able to handle situations that may be ambiguous (incomplete information)
- Skills in time management and process improvement; skills in assessing project work hours for completion
- Skills in critical thinking and problem-solving; focused on how to keep projects moving forward and removing obstacles to reach goals
- Growth mindset and positive approach to work
Qualifications:
- Bachelors' degree plus experience in a similar position
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Proven experience in graphic design and copywriting (4 or more years)
- Proven experience in project management, quality control, and meeting deadlines
- Proven experience working with social media channels
- Experience with Hubspot (preferred) or similar email marketing software platform
- Proven experience designing comprehensive marketing campaigns
- Association experience a plus
