Position Overview:

The Launch and Missile Defense Systems (LMDS) division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is on the lookout for a Software Engineering Manager 2 to oversee the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. We are eager for you to become part of our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Our domain offers fulfilling work that contributes to the latest innovations in the missile defense sector. This role is based in Huntsville, AL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of staffing, employee growth, and ongoing enhancement of engineering methodologies.
  • Utilizing strong leadership capabilities to achieve sustainable high performance for yourself and your team.
  • Guiding subordinate department managers in their support of engineering teams, comprising a total organization size of over 40 team members.
  • Facilitating effective collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Exhibiting a commitment to ethics and integrity while fostering innovation and challenging conventional business practices.
  • Coordinating with various sites, stakeholders, and functions to attain exceptional results.
  • This position is located in Huntsville, AL, with travel to company and customer sites as necessary, up to 10% of the time.

The ideal candidate should excel in a dynamic work environment characterized by high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years of technical experience in any combination of Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Integration and Test engineering or a related field, or a Master's Degree and 7 years of related experience, or a PhD and 4 years of related experience.
  • Previous experience leading teams as a technical lead or functional manager.
  • Familiarity with staffing practices, engineering metrics, training resources, agile methodologies, and engineering tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10% of the time to meet business needs.
  • Applicants must possess a current active in-scope DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to commence employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Knowledge of Missile Defense Systems and Software Applications, including C2BMC experience.
  • Demonstrated technical management experience in an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Experience effectively leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations.

Salary Range: $145,000 - $217,400
The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives. Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
