Position Overview

As a Critical Care CVICU Nurse at CHI St Vincent Infirmary, you will be responsible for monitoring and caring for patients who are critically ill and unstable due to severe injuries, surgical procedures, or life-threatening illnesses.

Each shift begins with a detailed report from a fellow nursing professional, followed by thorough patient rounds. You will deliver ongoing care and execute procedures as outlined in the individualized care plan. CVICU Nurses specialize in providing care for patients experiencing severe cardiac issues, often post-cardiac surgery, requiring a high level of specialized attention.

To excel in this role, your ability to multitask and respond swiftly to changing situations is crucial. You will provide clinical care while maintaining focus and vigilance as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift. Acting as an advocate for your patients, you will support their needs when they are unable to do so themselves. Your sound judgment and quick response during emergencies will be key to your success and potential advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Anticipate, identify, and address the informational and emotional needs of patients and their families.
  • Guide and supervise healthcare personnel, such as Patient Care Technicians, in delivering patient care.
  • Maintain proficiency in the setup, maintenance, and operation of medical equipment (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring devices).
  • Initiate emergency support measures when necessary (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
  • Assist with various patient care tasks, including hygiene and mobility support.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a sign-on bonus of up to $25,000 for eligible hires, along with additional compensation for participation in our clinical ladder, referral bonuses, comprehensive benefits, tuition reimbursement, and relocation assistance.

Qualifications
  • A valid Registered Nurse license in good standing, either in the State of Arkansas or a compact state, is required prior to the start date.
  • A minimum of 6 months of acute care experience is required (new graduates or nurses without prior acute care experience may enter through our residency training program).
  • Previous experience in CVICU is strongly preferred.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • ACLS certification through the American Heart Association is also required.
