Position Overview

As a Critical Care CVICU Nurse, you will be responsible for the monitoring and care of patients who are critically ill and unstable after significant trauma, surgical procedures, or severe medical conditions.

Your shift will commence with a comprehensive report from a fellow nursing professional, followed by patient rounds. You will provide ongoing care and execute procedures as outlined in the individualized care plan. CVICU Nurses are dedicated to delivering specialized care to patients experiencing severe cardiac issues, often post-cardiac surgery, necessitating a high level of expertise.

Success in this role requires exceptional multitasking abilities and quick decision-making skills. You will be actively involved in the clinical management of your patients, maintaining focus and vigilance as you continuously assess their conditions throughout your shift. Additionally, you will act as a patient advocate, ensuring their best interests are represented when they are unable to do so. Your ability to make sound judgments in emergencies and respond rapidly will be key to your professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement nursing care while prioritizing patient comfort.
  • Proactively identify and address the informational and emotional needs of patients and their families.
  • Supervise and guide healthcare staff in delivering patient care.
  • Maintain proficiency in the setup, maintenance, and operation of medical equipment.
  • Initiate emergency response protocols as necessary.
  • Assist with various patient care tasks, including hygiene and mobility support.

Compensation and Benefits:

Qualifications
  • Valid Registered Nurse license in good standing, either in the State of Arkansas or a compact state.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in an acute care setting is required.
  • Prior experience in a CVICU setting is highly preferred.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association is also required.
