Position Overview:

The Retail Merchandising Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of in-store merchandising that directly engage customers. This includes the strategic placement of new inventory, visual displays, store layouts, and enhancing the customer experience across various channels to maximize store profitability. This position is classified as exempt and reports directly to the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to ensure regular training for sales associates, including onboarding for new hires.
  • Anticipate and plan for incoming inventory, adjusting product flow as necessary.
  • Guide the Merchandising Team in presenting products in alignment with established visual and merchandising standards.
  • Oversee the timely setup of promotional displays and seasonal setups, including signage.
  • Direct the execution of playbook strategies and seasonal merchandise meetings.
  • Maintain the organization of the sales floor and stock areas, adapting standards to meet specific store needs.
  • Lead efforts to enhance the Customer Experience both in-store and through Omni-channel initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Sales Team Manager and visual associates to ensure cohesive merchandise presentation throughout the store.
  • Recruit, interview, and retain high-quality associates, ensuring timely filling of all positions.
  • Foster high levels of associate engagement and communicate policies and updates effectively.
  • Address any issues or concerns that arise within the team promptly.
  • Ensure all associates complete necessary documentation.
  • Train direct reports on proper processes and procedures.
  • Provide constructive coaching to team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and communicate developmental needs to team members.
  • Set performance goals and identify areas for improvement for direct reports.
  • Utilize corrective action processes to document and address performance issues.
  • Discuss potential career paths and advancement opportunities with direct reports.
  • Promote and develop a diverse team environment.
  • Drive business results and enhance customer experience through effective team leadership.
  • Open and close the store, including weekend shifts.
  • Authorize select point-of-sale transactions, such as returns and voids.
  • Resolve escalated customer service issues as necessary.
  • Understand and train direct reports on all operational systems within the store.
  • Lead the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Identify team and store needs, implementing solutions to improve profitability.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Intermediate Level Position Contribution.
  • A four-year college degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in retail management is essential.
  • Significant leadership experience is required.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Proficient in business-related computer systems and software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, standard telephone, and other related business equipment.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull receiving equipment weighing up to 500 lbs, such as rolling flats and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to twist, bend, and stoop to retrieve and place items on various surfaces.
  • Ability to work at a consistent and safe pace.
