Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Assistant to join our team at UR Medicine Thompson Health. As a Medical Office Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to healthcare providers, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating patient care.
  • Assist with clinical tasks, such as taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimens.
  • Develop and maintain a collaborative working relationship with patients, families, coworkers, and medical staff.
  • Ensure all Hospital, State, Federal, and other regulatory requirements are met as per job function.
  • Remain current with certification requirements if certified.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved program for certification of Medical Office Assistants preferred.
  • Currently holds a certification in New York State preferred.
  • Maintains active BLS skills preferred or ability to attain phlebotomy clearance once employed.
  • Ability to attain and maintain lab collection privileges once employed.
  • High School Diploma.
  • CMOA certification preferred.
  • Medical secretarial experience required.
  • MOA experience required.
  • Medical background required.
  • Strong EMR experience preferred.
  • Computer knowledge and skills including but not limited to Outlook and Microsoft Office required.
  • Knowledge of multiple insurance policies, administrative requirements, copayments, benefit coverage, and their application to multiple patients for multiple scenarios as presented in practice setting is strongly preferred.

  • Competitive pay range: $18.34 - $22.00.
