Budget Analyst Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Budget Analyst to join our team at WVU Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating operating budgeting and management reporting activities for assigned departments, including budget formulation and variance analysis review.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer the assigned departments' budget and management reporting software, including ongoing system maintenance, reporting, and training of directors and staff.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology, Accounting, Finance & Reimbursement, and Patient Financial Services to design solutions to technical problems.
  • Assist with the coordination of the hospital's annual budget process and become a budgetary decision-maker during peak budget periods.
  • Provide thorough financial and statistical analysis of data to produce reports and support decision-making.
  • Maintain and continually improve technical skills needed to manipulate data.
  • Identify data sources and appropriate data fields to use for reporting and analytic needs.
  • Meet with departments and accounting staff to understand business needs for reporting requests and help identify opportunities for report writing or modifications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or Hospital Administration or related field.
  • Two years' experience in data analysis, financial statement preparation, financial systems administration, and/or healthcare planning background.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of personal computers and Excel software.
  • Good organization and time management skills to maintain project timelines and meet deadlines.
