Work Schedule:
Day/Eve 8 (Variable start am, M-Fr (5 days), late start rotation at 1030 every 4th-5th week, no Holidays)
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate starting at $34.14, plus shift differential, commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a High School Diploma and at least one year of relevant experience is required. A valid CPR certification is mandatory. Candidates must obtain CBSPD or IAHCSMM licensure within one year of hire.
Experience:
At least one year of experience in a related field is preferred.
Role Summary:
Under the guidance of the Patient Care Manager and Charge Nurse, the Gastrointestinal Procedure Technician provides tailored, goal-oriented care to patients and families undergoing gastrointestinal procedures. This role involves assisting physicians during endoscopic procedures for both inpatients and outpatients, as well as managing the inventory of endoscopic equipment and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare procedure rooms with the necessary instruments, devices, and supplies as per established Endoscopic Preference Plans.
- Assist physicians with various endoscopic procedures while adhering to universal precautions and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Follow departmental protocols for the use of personal protective equipment, ensuring aseptic techniques are observed at all times.
- Process lab specimens appropriately and maintain a Quality Assurance log.
- Train and mentor new staff members, contributing to educational initiatives and quality management efforts.
Additional Duties:
- Conduct daily checks on endoscopy equipment to ensure proper functionality and report any issues promptly.
- Prepare patients for conscious sedation monitoring by attaching necessary equipment.
- Ensure that all procedural rooms are adequately stocked with supplies and linens.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including maintaining certifications and completing required continuing education units.
