Key Responsibilities:


The Culinary Education Facilitator will collaborate with the Program Team to develop and enhance a hands-on curriculum for various culinary programs, as well as other culinary initiatives in collaboration with educational institutions and community organizations.

This role includes overseeing and leading both kitchen and classroom activities, as well as facilitating professional skills workshops at our culinary space and partner locations.

The Culinary Education Facilitator is a vital member of the Program Team, responsible for monitoring student progress through comprehensive evaluation methods.


Essential Duties:


The Culinary Education Facilitator will:

  • Lead culinary sessions that promote critical thinking while imparting fundamental culinary skills, kitchen safety, and sanitation practices.
  • Design and implement nutritious menus for various programs and community events.
  • Work in conjunction with Student Services to support essential skill development.
  • Provide both group and individualized instruction utilizing effective teaching methodologies.
  • Assess student culinary skills and maintain precise records.
  • Create an engaging and positive learning atmosphere in the kitchen.
  • Assist in student recruitment and internship opportunities.
  • Accurately record student attendance.
  • Participate in community engagement activities outside of regular hours.
  • Conduct informative tours of our culinary facility for community partners.
  • Help manage food inventory and prepare order lists.
  • Attend weekly Program and Culinary meetings and focus on personal skill development.

You are eager to work in a youth-focused organization where you can share your culinary expertise to assist young individuals in developing essential life skills.

Prior experience working with youth is preferred. A background in culinary education and/or experience in professional kitchens is required.

You have a genuine interest in the development of young people, a passion for food, and a commitment to working with underserved urban youth.

You are organized, reliable, and a collaborative team player who thrives on new challenges in a nonprofit environment.

Strong communication skills and proficiency in digital tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive are essential. You are capable of engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation is required, along with Servsafe certification. Proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Vietnamese is advantageous.

You exemplify patience, professionalism, optimism, and integrity, maintaining healthy boundaries with students and colleagues.


Special Job Requirements:


This position requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends during the academic year and summer programs. A CORI/SORI check is mandatory.

ServSafe Managers Certification is also required.


Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The physical requirements for this role include:
  • Handling tools and equipment.
  • Reaching, sitting for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Working in a moderate noise environment.
