Underwriter Role at RSUI Group

RSUI Group's Atlanta Property department is seeking a skilled Underwriter to play a critical role in marketing, researching, underwriting, servicing, and retaining profitable property insurance accounts.

About the Underwriter Position
  • Build and maintain a profitable book of business, utilizing self-initiative and creativity to drive business growth.
  • Maintain exceptional levels of job knowledge and market conditions, advising management on product and operational impacts to inform business decisions.
  • Service complex property and inland marine risks, providing expert analysis and recommendations to ensure accurate risk assessment.
  • Review and analyze submissions for acceptability and completeness, securing supplemental information as needed to ensure seamless underwriting processes.
  • Determine and recommend acceptable terms within underwriting authority limits, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Bind coverage and oversee timely policy issuance, ensuring efficient and effective policy management.
  • Service existing accounts, monitoring claims and loss experience to maintain profitability and drive business growth.
  • Collaborate with other departments on issues related to their expertise, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Examine policy language and recommend changes to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain relationships with existing producers and develop new ones, building a strong network of business partners.
  • Conduct broker negotiations and presentations during marketing calls, effectively communicating business value and driving business growth.
  • Attend business-related functions, such as team meetings and marketing events, to stay informed and engaged with the business.
Requirements for the Underwriter Position
  • 4+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with a strong track record of driving business growth and profitability.
  • College degree or equivalent business experience required, with a strong understanding of business principles and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of Property Coverages, with a strong understanding of risk assessment and management.
  • Prior underwriting/brokerage experience required, with a strong network of business partners and a proven track record of driving business growth.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word & Excel), with a strong understanding of business software and systems.
