Position Overview
The Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner role is dedicated to delivering comprehensive patient care to a diverse population affected by trauma.
This position entails providing direct patient care, utilizing clinical knowledge, experience, and critical thinking to assess situations, prioritize needs, and evaluate complex clinical scenarios. The Nurse Practitioner will also engage in educational initiatives for both patients and staff, showcasing leadership capabilities and accountability in practice as per the Nurse Practice Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced clinical care to trauma patients.
- Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize patient needs effectively.
- Participate in educational programs for patients and healthcare staff.
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability in clinical practices.
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Trauma or Surgery Nurse Practitioner.
- Master's degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current certifications in AHA CPR/BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
- Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP).
- Valid California RN and Nurse Practitioner licenses without restrictions.
- Furnishing license and DEA certification within three months of hire.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong judgment and organizational skills for independent functioning.
- Ability to meet credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent clinical experience in a specialty care setting is highly desirable.
Department Mission
The department aims to provide independent, advanced-level clinical expertise to patients and their families consistently. This includes managing chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, and acute or critical care, as well as adhering to medical and specialty protocols defined by standardized procedures. Nurse Practitioners are expected to make independent patient management decisions where appropriate and collaborate with attending physicians and team members as needed.
