Primary Objective

Design and deliver comprehensive speech-language pathology services, including assessments, to support students with disabilities in accessing special education effectively.

Qualifications
Education/Certification

Master's degree or higher in speech-language pathology or a related field from an accredited institution, along with a valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, and CCC or TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology.

Alternatively,

Master's degree or higher in speech-language pathology or a related field from an accredited institution, and a valid Texas license as an Intern in Speech-Language Pathology (CFY) to practice under the supervision of a CCC-SLP while completing the post-master's degree 36-week full-time internship.

Or,

Bachelor's degree or higher in speech-language pathology or a related field from an accredited institution, and a valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, along with TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology.

Special Knowledge/Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Demonstrated expertise in:

speech-language pathology assessment and intervention strategies for communication disorders; education of diverse student populations; and principles of human development and learning.

Ability to instruct students and manage behavior effectively.
Willingness to adapt and innovate to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Experience
A minimum of one year of supervised clinical experience in speech-language pathology.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies to Enhance Student Development
Conduct speech-language evaluations and reevaluations for students referred through special education and provide comprehensive written evaluation reports for assigned students.

Deliver speech-language therapy services in accordance with guidelines established by relevant educational authorities and district policies.

Plan and implement direct and consultative speech-language pathology services aligned with the speech and language goals outlined in each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Collaborate with general and special education staff and administrators to assess current performance levels and establish goals and objectives for identified areas of need.

Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress, maintain therapy logs documenting progress data, and utilize results to inform therapy planning and implementation.

Review existing therapy data and conduct assessments to evaluate readiness for discontinuation of speech-language pathology services.
Work collaboratively with campus and district instructional supervisors, coordinators, and department leaders to enhance therapy services.
Integrate technology into instructional practices and utilize available tools as appropriate for therapy and learning.
Plan and oversee the assignments of speech-language pathology assistants, students, and interns.
Communication
Employ effective communication skills to convey information accurately and clearly.
Foster professional and cordial relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding confidentiality.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication through conferences with students, parents, and other staff members.
Respond to parent inquiries in a timely manner.
Classroom Management and Organization
Take all necessary precautions to ensure student safety.
Create a therapeutic environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with established codes of conduct.
Safeguard school property and be accountable for instructional materials.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, therapy session data, and evaluation reports in compliance with local and state requirements.

Assist in upholding and implementing administrative regulations and policies.
Effectively manage and utilize data for program analysis and improvement.

Engage in professional development activities to enhance therapy and evaluation effectiveness, thereby increasing student benefits in their education.

Collaborate with colleagues to reflect on and improve educational therapy practices.
