Red Rabbit is a Black-owned School Food Management Company dedicated to enhancing the well-being of communities of color across the North East and Mid-Atlantic Regions. We collaborate with numerous educational institutions, districts, and food banks to provide nourishing meals.

Our skilled chefs design menus, procure fresh local ingredients, and prepare appetizing, culturally relevant meals. We believe that school meals are vital not only for health but also for fostering children's cultural identity and self-esteem.

Position Overview

The Culinary Service Associate plays a crucial role within a team of 3-6 members, responsible for delivering wholesome, made-from-scratch meals to students daily. The ideal candidate is dependable, has experience working with children, and possesses a positive attitude. Key responsibilities include collaborating with schools, distributing meals, assisting with light food preparation, and maintaining high kitchen standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portion meals in accordance with Red Rabbit's production and state guidelines.
  • Enhance meal presentation by adhering to Red Rabbit's culinary standards.
  • Serve meals respectfully to students, ensuring compliance with portion sizes and timing.
  • Accurately track and record food distribution to ensure compliance and minimize waste.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment by adhering to health standards.
  • Exemplify Red Rabbit's values in interactions with school staff and students by being professional and courteous.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a culinary role within a fast-paced environment (e.g., restaurants, high-volume kitchens, or similar settings).
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Serve Safe certification required.
  • Food handler's license or certification is advantageous.
  • Ability to self-motivate and stay organized.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
  • Positive attitude that contributes to a collaborative workplace.
  • Passion for promoting nutrition and health in educational settings.
  • Proficient in English; bilingual skills (English and Spanish) are a plus.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Additional Information

Job Type: Full Time

Typical Hours: Monday - Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Reports to: Chef
